Encouraged by the success of previous 14^th National Conferences of Phase Diagrams of China(NCPDC),  the 15^th NCPDC and International Symposium on Phase Diagrams and Materials Design will be held at
Northeastern University in Shenyang, China, from October 12 to 16 in 2010. Extensive research on phase
diagrams and thermodynamics of advanced materials has unveiled many interesting and promising material
properties for novel applications in both structural and functional materials. In order to benefitmankind for such
developments, it is necessary to cross the chasm between fundamental properties of materials and materials
design as well as their applications. This effort will require a multi-disciplinary approach combining research in
thermodynamics, phase diagram, materials design, modeling, processing, and characterization.
The 15^th NCPDC and International Symposium on Phase Diagrams and Materials Design will provide such a
forum for international academics, researchers, engineers and students working in the fields of phase diagrams
and thermodynamics of advanced materials, materials design and their applications to discuss new
developments and concepts.
